Conference Program Highlights Announced for Labelexpo Americas

Tuesday 10. July 2012 - Issues facing the global converting industry, the benefits of digital printing, new technologies, diversifying into package printing and the environment are top of the agenda as the conference program for Labelexpo Americas 2012 is announced. Taking place again at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, Chicago, between 11-13 September, the two day conference runs alongside the exhibition and has expert sessions from some of the industry's leading visionaries.

Day one opens with two interactive panel discussions. Chaired by Mark Pollard from UPM Raflatac, several of the sector’s key publications including Labels & Labeling, FLEXO Magazine, Packaging Digest and Conversión will share their insight into the market’s state as well as summarize the challenges facing converters and long-term solutions printers can adopt to maximize opportunities. The global converter panel discussion will compare trends across North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe and highlight the importance of new technology trends and opportunities in aiding future growth. Moderated by the Labelexpo Global Series’ Mike Fairley, panelists include: Geoffrey T. Martin of CCL Label, Joel Carmany from the Consolidated Label Company, McDowell Label’s John McDowell, GERMARK’s Iban Cid and Fernando Gabel of Baumgarten Gráfica.
The afternoon is broken into two business streams with a focus on digital technology and branding. Sessions include the benefits of going digital and compare different digital business models and how added value technologies such as nanographic printing can sharpen business productivity. The branding stream will consider the significance of design to brand integrity, the importance of high performance ‘smart’ and interactive labels and current security solutions for effective brand protection.
Day two’s proceedings commence with the CEO round table discussion. Moderated by Avery
Dennison’s Don Nolan, panelists including: Art Yerecic of Yerecic Label/TLMI, Nigel Vinecombe from Multi-Color Corporation and Tapp Label Technologies’ John Attayek will explore how to differentiate your business from the competition and maximize capital and employee investment including job creation. The following session will provide a valuable and informative insight into the sales tools converters need to maximize their margins. Moderator James Quirk from Labels & Labeling is joined by renowned executive coach Brian Parsley of WeSkill who will unveil how to develop the core skills to stand out from the competition, enhance and win business and create new opportunities for further expansion and profitability.
Day two is also divided into two breakout streams focusing on package and label printing and flexo and combination printing. The package and label printing sessions will explore package printing opportunities for label converters diversifying into product decoration and environmental considerations across the supply chain. It will also consider what value new developments in ink technologies from suppliers like Flint Group can offer businesses. The second stream will investigate the future of flexo and combination printing and highlight developments in added value techniques.
