Happy Birthday: 25 Years of arvato in Mexico

Monday 09. July 2012 - Happy Birthday arvato Mexico! This week our colleagues in Mexico City celebrated the company's 25th anniversary, and looked back on a quarter-century of success for arvato Mexico in South America.

RCA Victor Mexicana, a subsidiary of the American music label RCA, began producing records in Mexico as early as the 1940s. In 1986, Bertelsmann bought up RCA, and merged the RCA music labels with Ariola into the group’s new music arm, BMG. The RCA pressing plants, however, were transferred to Sonopress (now arvato). On 1 July 1987, Sonopress officially took up its operations in Mexico.
A highlight of arvato’s activities in Mexico is the establishment of a state-of-the-art CD production plant in the 1990s. It is still in operation and can produce as many as 190,000 CDs a day. Originally founded as a CD production firm, in recent years arvato Mexico has evolved into a full-service provider for the audio, video and entertainment sectors. The company’s key clients include Universal Music Mexico, Warner Music Mexico, Sony Entertainment and Microsoft.
