Phil Vedda & Sons Ramps Up Production with Speedmaster XL 75
Friday 06. May 2011 - Phil Vedda & Sons Printing, a full-service commercial printer in Cleveland, Ohio, recently added a state-of-the-art Speedmaster XL 75 5-color press with aqueous coater and extended delivery to its all-Heidelberg pressroom lineup.
According to Jim Vedda, vice president production, the new press boosts the companys press capacity and enables it to fulfill growing client demand for same-day service. “We just have to crank it out,” Vedda said.
Fortunately, the Speedmaster XL 75 is uniquely equipped to help Vedda & Sons do exactly that. Jim Vedda singles out the Preset Plus feeder and Preset Plus delivery with dynamic sheet brake as just two of the elements that set the XL 75 apart. “For a business that turns work as rapidly as we do, the ability to get work on and off the press fast is critical,” he said. As for quality, the Prinect Axis Control color measuring system furnishes the company with an efficient, cost-effective means of handling a wide range of color-critical applications in high-quality offset printing.
In addition to the new XL 75, Vedda & Sons operates an all-Heidelberg pressroom equipped with a 5-color Speedmaster CD 74, 2-color Speedmaster SM 52, a pair of Printmaster QM 462s, and a Heidelberg KORS 2-color press. Likewise, the companys full-service bindery relies on a Pro-setter 455 6-pocket saddlestitcher, a trio of Stahlfolders in assorted sizes, in addition to 36″ POLAR 92 and 45″ POLAR 115 paper cutters.
Family owned and operated since 1956, Phil Vedda & Sons Printing occupies a 22,000-square-foot facility in Lakewood, Ohio, minutes from downtown Cleveland. The company claims $5 million in annual sales revenue, and proudly describes itself as “a tradesmans union printer.”
