FESPA DIGITAL 2011? THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT…

Friday 29. April 2011 - FESPA has launched a brand new smart-phone application designed to enhance the experience of visitors to FESPA Digital 2011 (24-27th May 2011) and FESPA Fabric (24-26th May 2011).

The app, which is available from May 1st 2011, can be downloaded across all mainstream platforms including Apple, Android and Blackberry, and with an automatic updating system, users need only download the programme once. The application has been programmed to automatically download the latest show information and deliver it quickly to the user’s device.
Created to assist visitors throughout their FESPA Digital and FESPA Fabric experience, the app contains a comprehensive database of show information including travel and accommodation, venue location, opening dates and times, and news about show sponsors. The app can also be used before the show starts to pre-register for free entrance to the exhibition.
Aside from general guidance, users can choose whether to access detailed facts regarding the FESPA Digital show or, alternatively, FESPA Fabric.
Each show section features exhaustive information including programme schedules for the Digital Textile Conference, Digital Showcase Theatre and Fresener’s Fabric Showcase Theatre. Users can also access the stand interview and Wrap Cup Series timetables. For visitors wanting to know more about the speakers involved in the educational show-floor features, the app includes a full list of speakers accompanied by biographies and images.
To help visitors make the most of their time at FESPA Digital, the app offers the ability to create a “My Event” diary, programming which stands they plan to visit, the theatre sessions they want to participate in, or their favourite speakers. “My Event” will notify them of all the latest information concerning their agenda and remind them when their next planned activity is due to begin.
Once users have planned their day, an interactive floor plan of each hall will help them navigate the aisles. Linked to the map is an interactive exhibitor list through which company and products can also be searched.
As FESPA’s latest social media undertaking, the app features a stream of FESPA’s social media platforms including Twitter feeds, the FESPA Facebook and LinkedIN pages and The Wide Network. Set out using a simple dashboard, the social section is the best way to keep up with on-site trends and the show ‘buzz’.
FESPA’s Head of Events and New Media, Duncan MacOwan comments: “It is important to harness the latest technologies to ensure that we communicate with the wide format print industry in the most effective ways possible. This is our first FESPA Digital and Fabric mobile app and we are confident that it will become a must-have, one-stop information resource for all visitors to Hamburg in May. Whether you want to know about the Digital Man Campaign or which exhibitors are showing the latest workflow solutions, FESPA’s app can help you. We’ve even included a unique feedback section so that users can let us know their thoughts about the show.
Visitors can download the app from http://is.gd/vlpSbB by opening the link on their hand-held device and clicking on the icon to download.
