DEC looks to Heiler Software for an Enterprise eProcurement Solution
Thursday 28. April 2011 - Heiler Software Australia acquires its first Australian client, the New South Wales Department of Education and Communities, and opens up a first office in Sydney.
The New South Wales Department of Education and Communities (NSWDEC) is the largest single organization, public or private, in Australia. With a recurrent budget of 14.4 billion AUD, NSWDEC is responsible for approx. 25% of the New South Wales (NSW) total budget. The state of NSW represents about 50% of the GDP of Australia. With the Heiler eProcurement Solution, the Procurement directorate of NSWDEC will be able to focus on strategic sourcing and supplier partnership programs and have the technology and process in place to scale to the needs beyond the available limited contracts today.
With winning the first Austalian customer, Heiler Software based in North America and Germany, has opened up the first office in Sydney. The Heiler eProcurement Solution needed to be able to manage over 42 different and diverse categories ranging from office products and school furniture to rainwater tanks and solar panels. The solution also needed to be accessible through NSWDECs ERP systems and intranet. “With a central procurement platform we will reduce our processing costs in purchasing. We chose Heiler due to its significant international experience and the ease with which the companys systems can search for products and services” said Paul Hopkins, Chief Procurement Officer for NSWDEC.
The challenge for Heiler was to deliver an enterprise level eProcurement Solution to meet the needs of over 50,000 full time teachers in more than 2,200 NSW Government schools – including pre-schools, primary schools, central schools, high schools, colleges and specialist schools. The Heiler Business Catalog also delivers a solution for the eProcurement needs of the Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Institutes. With 10 Institutes, across 140 campuses and 10,000 permanent teachers, TAFE NSW is not only Australia’s largest training provider; it is also among the largest in the world. NSWDEC also maintains 295 Corporate State Offices across the state of NSW which also required a robust and efficient eProcurement Solution.
Heiler is helping to deliver on NSWDECs strategy to provide value to schools and TAFE Institutes on any investment and drive a dynamic and competitive NSWDEC market place by providing eCatalogs capability for all NSWDEC contracts so buyers can easily locate and purchase products and services to meet their needs quickly and simply.
