TRACK & TRACE: VIP GUEST FOR TRAVTEC AT INTERPACK
Wednesday 27. April 2011 - Visitors to Travtec Groups stand at Interpack 2011 can get up-to-the-minute information on forthcoming pan-European legislation against pharmaceutical counterfeiting, from leading track and trace software expert Paul Mills.
Paul, of Melior Solutions, was a consultant on the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Association (EFPIA)s recent successful Swedish pack serialisation pilot and continues to work on the project.
And Travtec are delighted to announce that he will be available on their stand (Hall 5, Stand F04-17) on May 12 and 13 to talk to visitors and answer questions.
Travtec will also be displaying its Pharmacarton Lite coding station fitted with Melior Solutions TTM100 software, which was used during EFPIAs Swedish trial.
This ideal combination allows pharmaceutical and medicine producers to ensure they are ready to comply with the new legislation which is to be implemented by EU member states within around two years.
Paul Mills explains: “The combination of the Travtec Pharmacarton and our TTM100 really can provide an out of the box low fuss solution to pack serialisation.”
Harry Thomason of Travtec adds: “It is a real coup for us. Visitors to our stand will be able to ask one of the leading figures in EFPIAs current work about not just the technicalities of track and trace, but also the political aspect regarding timetables for the project.”
Under the European Union Falsified Medicines Directive, all pharmaceutical packaging must incorporate a serialised 2D Datamatrix code on individual packs. Pharmacists can then verify whether a pack with that serial number has been dispensed before – allowing them to spot counterfeit medicines.
EFPIA says the risk of counterfeit medicines in Europe is substantial and increasing. In 2009, more than 11 million counterfeit or illegal medicines were stopped at EU borders.
Travtecs Pharmacarton Lite, which is making its European debut at Interpack, and TR-750-TT Speed Feeder are both able to meet the requirements of the new legislation.
Melior Solutions TTM100 software is ideal for integrating with existing equipment to provide a seamless and consistent serial number management solution. It manages the whole process of number generation/receipt, on-line printer communication, on-line code verification and reject handling.
