GIZEH Obtains Approval for North America

Thursday 21. April 2011 - The plastic packaging specialist GIZEH Verpackungen has obtained approval for the sale of its products in North America. The GIZEH plant in Elsterwerda was certified in accordance with the stringent requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). GIZEH will thus be able to offer its products in the USA and Canada in the future.

“The FDA certificate represents the ticket to the markets of North America,” said GIZEH sales director Robby Schröder. “There are interesting prospects in particular for our specialized solutions for milk and dairy products.” The certificate was conferred following an audit of the GIZEH Elsterwerda production site in the state of Brandenburg on April 12th.
The certificate grants permission to offer “Single Service Containers and Closures for Milk and Milk Products” on American and Canadian markets. Within the scope of the audit, particular attention was given to the stipulations of the U.S. law relating to food processing and distribution as well as hygiene and product safety requirements.
In October 2010, GIZEH already received the “BRC-IlP Certificate” of the British Retail Consortium, an internationally recognized hygiene and product safety standard. “Internationally recognized certification facilitates cooperation to a large extent, in particular with new customers,” stressed Schröder. “The often time-consuming documentation of quality assurance processes prior to new projects are thus greatly accelerated or may even be omitted altogether.”
