Hyperlocal Website TribLocal.com Wins News Design Award
Wednesday 23. March 2011 - TribLocal.com has received a Best of Digital News Design award from the Society for News Design. Re-launched in October of 2010, TribLocal.com is a leading hyperlocal source for news and events in the Chicago suburbs. Produced by the Chicago Tribune, TribLocal.com was selected for best website redesign by the Society for News Design, an international organization for news media professionals and visual communicators.
The Best of Digital Design competition launched earlier this year with 20 industry leaders reviewing more than 500 entries from around the world. Categories were judged based on average monthly page views and a total of 60 awards were given. The winning entries achieved the best balance among aesthetic design, user interface, news value and storytelling.
“We are extremely pleased and honored to be selected to receive this prestigious award from the Society for News Design,” said Jane Jansen, general manager of TribLocal. “A tremendous amount of effort went into the planning and development of the website to help us connect consumers, community groups and businesses in a new way.”
“I’m very proud of the development team and all the people responsible for creating such a well received product. We look forward to the continued enhancement of our websites along with our full color weekly newspaper that is home delivered on top of the Chicago Tribune.”
