UPM promotes its sustainable products at Londons Ecobuild 2011
Wednesday 02. March 2011 - UPM promotes its range of sustainable construction products at the UKs largest sustainable materials show - Ecobuild. UPMs UPM ProFi and UPM Plywood along with UPM Timber will be demonstrated to nearly 50,000 visitors attending the three day event.
UPMs stand is at the heart of the Extreme Timber area of Ecobuild. Built entirely out of UPM construction products, experts and business area representatives will be on hand to discuss sustainability issues and product specific information with customers.
Mrs Elisa Nilsson, Vice President, Brand Management for UPM says: “UPM is pleased to be able to showcase some of its key products at one of the leading sustainability exhibitions. Our unique offering and approach to sustainability provides customers with a full life cycle view. Biofore in Action demonstrates the way that UPM has integrated its businesses and strategy.”
Commenting on UPMs presence at Ecobuild UPMs Vice President for Environmental Affairs, Mrs Päivi Salpakivi said: “Ecobuild also compliments our Responsibility Principles which focus on sustainable products, climate, biodiversity, water and waste. These key areas are considered closely also in the production of wood composite, plywood and timber.”
A large part of the stand floor is built of UPM ProFi which combines state of the art recycling technology and in-depth material science to produce a new range of exterior building systems. Fresh and modern in colour and style, these next generation composite products set new standards in colour durability and low maintenance for decking and facades. Awarded the Green Good Design in 2010, UPM ProFi’s lignin free composite material is a rare case of a sustainable solution resulting in superior technical performance.
The main façade of the UPM stand uses WISA Twin. As Europe’s largest plywood producer, UPM Plywood’s WISA brand is well known for its quality and engineered excellence. Being showcased at Ecobuild, WISA Twin combines the fine surface of birch exterior faces, with a strong but light-weight spruce core. PEFC chain of custody certification, local European production and a low carbon footprint help to make this versatile panel the perfect solution for sustainable building.
In addition to providing the structural elements for UPM Biofore stand, UPM Timber flooring is also on show. UPM Timber is Finlands largest redwood producer with extensive experience and know-how in the manufacture of green split products for diverse joinery applications. Our latest range of interior and exterior products adds advanced coatings technology to this tradition. Environmentally safe waxes and water-based paints bring out the natural beauty of the wood whilst providing a protective layer. All of UPM Timber’s products are PEFC certified.
