Friday 18. February 2011 - Leading print service provider expands with KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology
The Servinform Group, Spain’s leading print service provider, has created a raft of new business opportunities after installing the revolutionary new KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press. The investment has enabled the company to significantly expand its print service portfolio, which in addition to TransPromo documents now includes newspapers, books, catalogues and direct mail activities. Servinform already uses two KODAK VERSAMARK VX Printing Systems at its Valencia site.
“We needed a system that would enable us to diversify and provide a greater range of services,” says Servinform Sales Director Nacho Rufo. “The KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press meets this need perfectly. It’s an extremely flexible system that will enable us to increase revenue by taking on a much broader range of work.”
Julio López, who runs Servinform’s plant in Valencia, where the two KODAK VERSAMARK VX Printing Systems are in operation, adds: “Servinform’s goal with its PROSPER Press is variable size offset press options. Kodak’s new and innovative system opens up a lot of potential in every aspect of digital color printing, so the range or choice of jobs is actually limitless. An additional advantage is that this technology will also upgrade on-site.”
The KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press for color applications and the KODAK PROSPER 1000 Press for monochrome applications feature a print speed of up to 200 mpm (650 fpm) with image quality approaching 175 lpi, and a monthly duty cycle of up to 120 million A4 pages. The presses can handle coated, uncoated and glossy papers, with basic weights ranging from 45 gsm-175 gsm (30 lbs-120 lbs) on the PROSPER 1000 Press and 45 gsm-300 gsm (30 lbs-200 lbs) on the PROSPER 5000XL Press.
In addition, the devices boast an advanced ink formulation that enhances print quality and durability, and has the unique ability to print on glossy coated substrates.
In Julio López’s words: “Another variable that prompted us to invest in the KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press is the unflagging dedication that Kodak has shown in its efforts to drive continuous improvement and technological development at Servinform.”
“When we decided to upgrade Servinform’s image quality, the PROSPER Press was a natural choice,” confirms Rufo. At present Servinform prints 160 million sheets a year with its two KODAK VERSAMARK VX Printing Systems. With the new KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press, the company can substantially increase its printing capacity to an estimated 3,600 A4 pages per minute.
“The high quality and productivity, combined with the total printing costs that the PROSPER Color Press can offer, will boost Servinform’s growth as it will now be able to serve customers and markets that were previously beyond its reach,” explains Mark Clark, Regional Business Manager & VP Digital Printing Solutions EAMER, Kodak. “The PROSPER Press Platform gives marketing and print service providers the ability to maximize supply chain and production efficiencies, and improve return on marketing investment. The goal is to optimize printed communication channels.
“This system’s modular and scaleable architecture means that customers can leverage investments in the PROSPER 1000 Press and upgrade in the field to a PROSPER 5000XL Press, giving them the best configuration to meet their needs. The KODAK PROSPER Press Platform encompasses every offset printing feature plus the advantages unleashed by digital technology.”
Other customers that have installed the PROSPER Press include Sagim, Consolidated Graphics, Offset Paperback Manufacturers and Webcrafters.
