The 100th Concepta Web Offset Printing Press Makes Its Way to Czech Printing House Optys
Thursday 17. February 2011 - Muller Martini Celebrates a Milestone in its Mailshot and Security Printing History
With the delivery of the 100th Concepta printing press to Czech printing plant Optys spol. s.r.o. in Opava, Muller Martini is celebrating a milestone in its mailshot and security printing history. The web offset printing press was approved amid much jubilation at the production plant in Maulburg (Germany).
The Optys spol. s.r.o. printing plant is one of the top names in the Czech Republic when it comes to manufacturing premium-quality mailshots, forms, commercial and security products. What’s more, the printing house, which was founded in 1992, also boasts its own sales network for its self-produced office forms. In addition to being responsive to customer needs, the company, which employs a staff of over 400 people, also prides itself on its ability to offer outstanding quality, meaning it continually optimizes its production equipment.
A Third Printing Press from Muller Martini
Opting in favor of a new investment, the Optys printing plant is once again putting its trust in Muller Martini’s modern technology, purchasing the 100th machine from the Concepta series in the form of the nine-color model. This is the third printing press that the Czech printing house has bought from the Muller Martini range. In addition to the new nine-color Concepta and a five-color Concept, the company also owns a three-color Pronto.
According to Optys Production Director Ivan Svak, the key factors behind the renewed decision in favor of a Muller Martini printing press included the quality and high level of automation, but in particular the Concepta’s diverse range of application options and the many years of experience that Muller Martini has with this type of machine. The Concepta model is the result of the consistent development of the highly successful Concept series, which was launched back in 1993 when it was one of the first computer-controlled printing presses on the market. The newly designed Concepta, modified following the drupa 2004 trade fair, impresses with numerous benefits:
? High level of printing quality
? Simple operation
? Broad order spectrum
? Efficient inking system
? Innovative ink zone control
? Short setup times thanks to the Make Ready System
In the past six and a half years, over 600 Concepta printing units have been commissioned by printing houses across the globe.
According to Ivan Svak, the new web press at the Optys printing plant will primarily be used for printing forms and security products, as well as for special applications. The machine will also allow the company to break into new market segments, such as printing motorway vignettes and stickers.
Short Setup Times and High Speeds
The Concepta at Optys is equipped with a UV dryer and a Q74 rotary cross cutter, plus a Make Ready System. These features ensure better performance at shorter setup times and rapid size and job changeovers, while also reducing production waste. What’s more, the Concepta can reach production speeds of up to 305 meters per minute. Thanks to its new investment, the Optys printing plant can continue to offer its customers premium-quality printed products, meaning it is well-equipped to face an increasingly tough printing market.
