HP and Pitney Bowes provide support to AFP data stream applications for HP Indigo presses

Tuesday 15. February 2011 - HP today announced that it is collaborating with Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) to enable direct mail houses and transpromotional printers to benefit from the high-quality and productivity of HP Indigo digital presses in advanced function printing (AFP) environments.

The solution is based on the high-quality and versatility of HP Indigo presses and proven performance of Pitney Bowes’s P/I Output Manager system, which maximises efficiencies and productivity. P/I Output Manager processes multiple input print streams, transforming them into a JYLT/ICF data stream ready for production on HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press and HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press. The bi-directional, tight integration between P/I Output Manager and HP digital presses ensures high print integrity.
P/I Output Manager is a modular, scalable system that can be adapted to meet high productivity requirements. To maintain the data integrity needed for direct mail and transpromotional applications and for greater efficiency the HP Indigo press provides feedback to P/I Output Manager, which tracks and reports jobs’ progress page-by-page and even allowing for reprints when needed.
“In order to be successful, targeted direct mail campaigns and transpromotional applications require high-quality print for compelling promotions and marketing messages, as well as the fidelity and data integrity expected when sensitive transactional or customer information is concerned,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “We believe that HP’s collaboration with Pitney Bowes, provider of Production Intelligence software, will deliver this combination of factors and that this tool will become an enabler for high-value applications such as transpromotional statements.”
“Pitney Bowes is honoured to be expanding its relationship with HP to help direct mail houses and print service providers generate more powerful and valuable customer communications,” said Ramesh Ratan, president, Pitney Bowes Document Messaging Technologies. “Our integrated solution combines HP’s expertise in high-quality, digital colour printing technology with Pitney Bowes’s leadership in document output management solutions to help customers generate high-quality transpromotional documents.”
For increased functionality the P/I Output Manager is easy to use with a graphical user interface. It offers users the optional ability to enhance printed applications by manipulating data and images, including inserting control marks, barcodes as well as replacing printed stocks.
The P/I Output Manager is scheduled for availability in the summer of 2011.
