Personnel Changes in BASF Communications

Anke Schmidt transfers to Human Resources
BASF announces the following p ersonnel changes in communications: On February 1, 2011, Dr. Stefanie Wettberg (38) will take over the position of Vice President Corporate Communications of BASF Group with responsibilities for Media Relations, Publications and Online. At the same time, Susanne Marell (47), Vice President Corporate Communications at Cognis, will assume the newly created position of Vice President Corporate Brand Management and will be responsible for Branding, Events and Issues and Industry Target Groups. Both will report to Elisabeth Schick, Senior Vice President Communications and Government Relations BASF Group.
Anke Schmidt (41), until now responsible for Corporate Communications and Branding, has been appointed Senior Vice President and heads a project on global employee development. Schmidt reports directly to the Board member responsible for Human Resources.
Dr. Stefanie Wettberg
Stefanie Wettberg studied economics at the University of Heidelberg, Germany where she also worked as an academic assistant before receiving a doctorate in economics. She joined the Treasury department of BASF in Ludwigshafen, Germany in 2003. From 2005 until 2009, she was the executive staff to BASF’s CFO. At the beginning of 2009 she transferred to Antwerp, Belgium as Vice President Finance & Controlling BASF Antwerpen N.V.
Susanne Marell
Susanne Marell studied business at the University of Wuppertal, Germany. She started her career at Kohtes & Klewes then worked in various positions in marketing and communication at Schering, AgrEvo and Aventis Crop Science. In 2000, she became Vice President Corporate Communications at Cognis, where she was responsible for the positioning of the Cognis brand and establishing international communication for the company. Cognis was acquired by BASF in December 2010.
Anke Schmidt
Anke Schmidt studied romance studies, business and politics in Hamburg, Germany and Nantes, France. She joined BASF in Ludwigshafen as a communications trainee in 1996 and subsequently held a number of positions within corporate communications at BASF before becoming senior manager for corporate communications Asia Pacific in Singapore in 2000: From 2004 until 2008, Schmidt was head of Corporate Communications Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. In 2008 she returned to Ludwigshafen as head of Corporate Communications BASF Group.
