Daily Publisher Der neue Tag, Weiden, Germany – innovative in a printed future
Friday 28. January 2011 - The publishing house with over 400 employees is the biggest newspaper in Nordoberpfalz, Germany.
Der neue Tag with regional his editions Sulzbach-Rosenberger Zeitung, Amberger Zeitung and six further editions has a daily circulation of 90,000 copies. In addition the print house publishes different weeklies and produces several contract print jobs.
In the last 18 month a new printing centre was planned and next to ongoing construction of the building the decisions of investments for technical equipment was made.
One of the last important decisions in December 2010 was the prepress equipment.
Thomas Maul, director of the new printing plant and head of the project team was in charge of the evaluation process and decision, external supported from mb” consultancy.
Extensive study about the different technologies and available solutions on the market was the preconditions for evaluation procedure.
Investment volume, productivity and costs per plate for the anticipated life time, next to reliability of production and environmental are the key points for the decision.
Completive input from visits of reference sides and discussions with users were helpful to get the full picture.
In front of all facts Der neue Tag decided for DotLine, innovative, German technology.
DotLine will install CTP System VMAX in combination with a clean out unit from Haase to expose and process environmental friendly “chemfree” photopolymer plates.
Next to outstanding performance and therewith high flexibility in daily production the technical aspects was important for the decision. The project team outlined: Even if the DotLine solution is in front of the higher performance not comparable with others, the engineering and simplicity are convincing. The clear design and reduced complexity is the basic for an effective solution, easy operation and a high reliability.
Der neue Tag ordered two DotLine VMAX CTP lines with a total capacity of 730 plates/h (1270dpi) to supply the plates in time for the new printing press, Commander CT 6/2.
Der neue Tag will work with the fastest CTP solution worldwide, DotLine VMAX.
The installation of technical equipment will start in the second quarter. Initial operation is planed middle of July. The new printing side will take over the full production Oct. 4th., 2011.
