DDPP installs HP Indigo press 5500 to double production volume
Friday 21. January 2011 - DDPP Digital print sales up 30 percent in 2010
HP today announced that DDPP Document Partners BV, of Wormerveer, Netherlands has installed an HP Indigo press 5500 to meet customer demand for digital print applications and enable it to double production volume.
Having installed an HP Indigo press 5000 in 2005, DDPP has grown year-on-year, providing digital print services to the automotive, publishing and design industries. In 2010 it enjoyed a 30 percent increase in digital print sales, prompting the requirement for an additional digital press to meet its rapid growth.
“Digital printing is the future of effective communications, and as such, it is becoming more important to marketers who increasingly come to us for short run projects. This second press has helped enable us to double our production volume to meet customer expectations,” said Serge Sonius, managing partner, DDPP. “We knew we could rely upon the HP Indigo 5500 to deliver the same excellent print quality as we’ve experienced with our Indigo 5000, and the press also provides additional speed, flexibility and application benefits that will further enhance our business and service offering.”
DDPP provides a range of applications, from books to brochures and direct mail pieces. A recent project for a Japanese automotive manufacturer illustrates the power of DDPP’s new service offering – production of 37,000 owner manuals, quick reference guides and accessory manuals – printed in seven languages.
“This job comprised of various different materials and language versions, each a short-run job in itself but collectively a huge project for us. As such, we utilised both our Indigo presses – The Indigo 5000 was used to print the manual’s content, while our new Indigo 5500 was used to print the manual’s covers. Our customer was very impressed with the quality of the end-product, claiming it was a good match for offset and beyond their expectations,” said Serge Sonius.
The HP Indigo press 5500 with its wide colour gamut, VDP capabilities and thick substrate kit is enabling the company to broaden its product and service offering, with new applications including point-of-purchase advertisements, short run personalised printed carton board applications and much more.
Serge Sonius concludes: “Our business is enjoying healthy growth – due in no small part to the quality of service we provide, but also the benefits of digital print for marketers and businesses delivered by our robust, high quality HP Indigo presses. We believe that we are now well equipped to meet customer challenges and exploit future growth potential – we look forward to continued success in the future.”
DDPP was founded in 2000, has six employees and offers its own finishing services including stitch and hotmelt binding, folding and laminating.
