HP demonstrates digital solutions for profitable high volume variable data applications at Hunkeler Innovation Days 2011
Monday 17. January 2011 - HP announced today that it will feature an HP T200 Inkjet Web Press in operation, live on the stand (P08) at Hunkeler Innovation Days 2011, enabling visitors to see how this HP press achieves profitable production of high volume, high quality on demand publications, direct mail and transpromotional applications.
Exhibited in conjunction with Pitney Bowes as part of its IntelliJet Printing solution for transactional and transpromotional printing, the HP T200 Inkjet Web Press offers a 20.5 inch print width with up to 400 feet per minute (fpm) mono, or 200 fpm colour print speeds. Combining this innovative HP technology and Pitney Bowes renowned Production Intelligence software makes for a highly productive, fully optimised solution.
Paul Randall, EMEA Marketing Manager, HP Indigo Digital Press & IHPS comments: “Innovation Days 2011 provides us with a great opportunity to present the complete HP portfolio, showing PSPs how HP digital press technology could power their businesses and enable them to offer cost effective, high value on demand printing as well as variable data opportunities. HP’s alliance with Pitney Bowes has enabled some innovative technological developments in the transactional print space and we are pleased to be demonstrating the resulting benefits of this partnership at the show.”
Other highlights of the show include:
HP Specialty Printing Systems (HP SPS) solutions, including the HP C400 Color Print Module
The HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press with an inline Hunkeler Finishing system
HP SPS at Hunkeler Innovation Days
HP SPS, the HP division that licenses HP thermal inkjet technology, with the help of DJM (an HP SPS partner) will demonstrate full colour imprinting with the new HP C400 Color Print Module, on a typical roll-to-roll direct mailing application.
The HP C400 is a modular solution for variable colour printing on envelopes and documents. This cost-effective module attaches onto existing equipment, integrates easily into the print workflow, and offers automatic printhead maintenance. Users can avoid having to purchase a standalone device and can reduce their operating costs over time, with less room needed for preprinted envelope and document inventory storage. The HP C400 Color Print Module produces envelopes and documents 600dpi (600×300 optimised from 300×300 input) at up to 400ft/min with four 4.25″ printheads.
Also shown in this demo will be the IPAS425i (HP mPrinter 4000) that DJM has been very successfully selling integrated with its intelligent RIP and data streaming-design software. DJM has a long history and experience in developing, delivering and installation of high-speed inkjet technologies.
HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press
Also on the HP stand will be the HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press with an inline Hunkeler Finishing system. A twin-engine web press capable of printing up to seven colours, the HP Indigo W7200 enables Print Service Providers (PSPs) to produce high speed and true offset quality print, for large-volume, highly variable “every page is different” production runs.
The HP Indigo W7200 uses established HP Indigo technology and HP ElectroInk, to print at speeds of up to 14,400 colour pages per hour full colour, and up to 57,600ppm mono, effectively doubling the speed of earlier models. With an image size of 317mm x 980mm and the ability to handle substrate widths from 40g/m2 to 350g/m2, the W7200 enables the printing of a wide range of formats and applications. High capacity ink canisters reduce the need for operator intervention. With this press, reliable, versatile and high productivity variable data printing is possible with low costs per page regardless of ink coverage.
HP’s broad product portfolio enables businesses to enter new markets
“HP is uniquely positioned in the market with its breadth of portfolio and multiple technologies that open up new business opportunities in many different markets. Publishers, financial institutions and enterprises will see at the show how HP technology can enable the production of high-quality digital applications that routinely provide improved cost effectiveness along with greater return on investment with increased campaign success,” said Paul Randall.
HP’s Inkjet Web Press Portfolio includes the newly launched T350 Color Inkjet Web Press, offering a 30 inch press width with an increased speed of up to 600 fpm (3600 A4 pages per minute) for applications such as high-quality books, transpromotional/transactional statements and direct mail – expected to be commercially available in the second half of 2011.
The Inkjet Web Press Portfolio also includes the HP T300. Since its first commercial installation in December 2008, the HP T300 Color Inkjet Web Press has helped advance digital print from niche to mainstream applications by offering cost-effective, high-volume digital colour production. The press prints a 762mm (30-inch) wide roll with 1,200 x 600 addressable dots per inch four-colour-process printing at a speed up to 122m (400 feet) per minute.
Handling the data supplied by enterprises is carried out by HP SmartStream servers. With a range of workflow solutions designed for specific applications, HP SmartStream servers are able to handle large amounts of variable data, carry out imposition, colour management, RIPping and drive multiple HP Indigo presses. Details of the HP SmartStream server portfolio will also be available.
