Your Print Solution adds capacity with new HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

Thursday 13. January 2011 - HP today announced that Your Print Solution Ltd, of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, has installed an HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press to meet the rising demand for short-run variable data print.

The company has its roots as a repro house, established in 2004, supplying plates and proofs for the trade. About five years ago, Steven Brown and business partner David Jackson saw the opportunity to move into supplying digital print and began to explore the market and subsequently bought an HP Indigo press 1000.
“The business began on a small scale, with a guillotine and booklet maker,” explained Steven Brown, director, Your Print Solution. “We continued with the repro work, but built up the digital printing side of the business, starting with existing customers and expanding from there.”
The company has relocated twice since its move into digital print and now employs eleven people. To meet rising volume requirement, the company upgraded to an HP Indigo press 3500 before replacing that with the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press in October.
“We primarily are a B2B business, but we will do B2C work, from walk-in customers wanting 50 business cards, to invitations, and other commercial products. At the other extreme, we carry out work for a national restaurant chain and a major film studio,” Brown said. “We’d reached the point where we were frequently printing a million impressions on our 3500 press and felt we needed the extra speed.”
Web-to-print solutions
Part of Your Print Solution’s strategy to build its business was to establish a web-to-print service. Working with Press-sense (now Bitstream), iWay software was felt to be user friendly and could provide a transparent end-to-end web-to-print solution. Users can log on, upload files, including variable data, and obtain information about job progress, delivery and billing on-line. The Press-sense iWay system has its own variable data handling facility and Brown notes that in the course of a month variable data sometimes accounts for up to 70 percent of production.
“We’re very pleased with our new 7000 press,” Brown said. “Start up was very easy and we’ve been using the HP IndiChrome Plus seven-colour system which we believe is an excellent value add an produces and impressive result.
“We’ve also carried out work on a variety of substrates from films to tracing paper – all of which have given excellent results,” Brown concluded.
Your Print Solution uses FSC certified papers exclusively and is currently seeking FSC accreditation.
