Goss International customers win gold and silver in leading Asian print awards

Thursday 23. December 2010 - Goss press users awarded for high quality in Asia; M-600 press leads in web print successes; Times Printers of Singapore wins top honors

Printers in Asia have repeated past success with Goss press technology in the recent 8th Asian Print Awards, held in Macau. The Goss M-600 model featured prominently as press of choice among the web offset category winners.
The overall honor of ‘Best in Web Offset’ went to Times Printers of Singapore for its entries printed on Goss M-600 presses. This result was in recognition of winning the gold award in both the ‘Web Offset – Coated’ and the ‘Web Offset – Lightweight Coated’ categories.
Winning the silver award in the ‘Web Offset Coated’ category was the Shanghai division of Toppan Leefung for Oggi magazine printed on a Goss M-600 press.
In the ‘Web Offset – Lightweight Coated’ category, C&C Joint Printing Co. (Guangdong) took the silver award for Elsevier’s The Medical Assistant while Toppan Leefung (Shenzhen) won the bronze award for Auto Magazine – again both printed on Goss M-600 systems.
With the aim of improving and promoting print in Asia, each submission in the 8th Asian Print Awards was evaluated for quality by an independent judging team of 10 international print professionals from Australia, Belgium, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK. Their specialist knowledge covered print design, prepress, substrates, inks, consumables and print finishing to ensure that the entries underwent close scrutiny in every aspect of production quality.
According to the Asian Print Awards organizers, the panel of judges agreed that the standard of this year’s awards was the highest in the eight years of competition: “The level was so high that submissions that may have won Gold several years are now Bronze.”
