First biometric ID card produced in Brazzaville

Wednesday 22. December 2010 - Congratulations from Mühlbauer to the Republic of Congo:

Today, the Republic of Congo launches into a new area of Government ID security. At Brazzaville, the Minister of the Interior, Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou, together with a high ranking delegation from Government and National Police, opened a state-of-the-art personalization center and received the first produced ID card. At the moment a second personalization center is being built up at Oyo in order to meet the required capacities and to have a back-up system.
The Government of the Republic of Congo selected the Mühlbauer Group to realize a new highly secure and state-of-the-art ID card for the country. In the last months, Mühlbauer supported the local experts in the design and setup of the application as well as in the setup of the new personalization centers. In addition, police officers have been trained by Mühlbauer professionals in handling data and machines – a complete technology and know-how transfer in Government ID security from Mühlbauer to the Republic of Congo. During the inauguration of the personalization center, the police officers received their training certificates. Mühlbauer also delivered a comprehensive software solution for production and personalization management, document lifecycle management as well as complete system administration.
Holger Kuhnt, Project Manager, Cards & Tecurity of Mühlbauer Group, said during the inauguration ceremony: “Congratulations on the first produced ID card. We are glad to support the Republic of Congo in attaining a new level of technological know-how and Government ID security. By choosing Mühlbauer, the Government selected the right partner, who has the experience, flexibility and power to handle such projects from one source. We look forward to a further fruitful cooperation. Now the Republic of Congo has the latest biometric database center including AFIS (Automatic Fingerprint Identification System) and thus a solid basis for a variety of Government ID applications, such as census, elections (e.g. voters registration and voters lists) or ID documents (e.g. ePassports, driver’s licenses, health cards).”
