Toshiba Releases New e-STUDIO455SE Series with Encryption and Data Overwrite Standard

Tuesday 21. December 2010 - The e-STUDIO455SE Is the First Toshiba Series to Receive the Security Enabled (SE) Designation

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today announced the introduction of the new Toshiba e-STUDIO 455SE Series (models 205/255/305/355/455), the first Toshiba series to come standard with encryption enabled out of the box, and a Data Overwrite Kit. The Data Overwrite Kit, which was previously only available as an optional add-on, ensures that all data is erased after every fax, copy, scan and print job in order to prevent the latent storage of valuable and/or sensitive information on a device, and meets Department of Defense standard 5220.22M.
“Security is a major area of focus for Toshiba,” said Bill Melo, vice president, Marketing, Services and Solutions, TABS. “Several years ago we made a move to differentiate ourselves in the industry by being proactive in training dealers and speaking to customers about this topic. “At the same time, we created our SecureMFP program which focuses on device, document, access and end-of-life security. We’re very happy to see customer awareness and demand increase, giving us the opportunity to make standard features such as Data Overwrite.”
In addition to the inclusion of Data Overwrite, hard disk drive encryption (HDD) also comes enabled out of the box, providing 128-bit AES encryption to all data stored on the hard drive. Full Network Authentication also requires users to log-in to gain access to device features and functions.
While enhanced security features set the 455SE Series apart, it also comes with a host of other compelling attributes for businesses of all sizes, including: print and scan standard; a full-color touch-screen LCD control panel; scan-to and print-from-USB accessibility from the front of the machine; impressive monthly copy volumes of 80K, 100K, 120K, 125K and 150K respectively; and print speeds of 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 respectively. Like all Toshiba color models, these new monochrome devices feature Toshiba’s third generation e-BRIDGE controller with Open Platform architecture. This technology allows third-party software applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint and Exchange, to integrate directly with the e-STUDIO device.
Color Alternative Series
Additionally, the Toshiba e-STUDIO455 Series provides color scanning functionality right out of the box. Businesses looking for color scanning functions will find the e-STUDIO455SE Series a low-cost alternative to purchasing a full-color multifunction device (MFD). Documents can now be captured, managed and stored as color images and then reproduced clearly in black and white for consistent and more professional-looking results.
Eco-Innovation with Uncompromised Productivity
Toshiba places a high priority on reducing environmental impacts from every aspect of the business, and across the entire product life-cycle. The e-STUDIO455SE has achieved the latest Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star Tier Two rating. It also has a super-sleep mode that consumes only one watt of power.
In addition, it features a quick start-up technology to reduce power consumption, has the Blue Angel Mark, and is Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant.
Other environmentally-friendly features include, but are not limited to:
Outside Edge Erase – Detects and erases the dark outside edge of copies and scans to reduce consumable usage
Private Print and Hold Print – Reduces unintentional consumable waste and saves operational costs, because if the user forgets to pick up the job, the job never prints
Omit Blank Page – Automatically identifies blank pages in the original document when scanning or printing, and omits them when printing or saving
100 Percent Toner Recycling System – Virtually zero toner wasted; it is collected and recycled
The e-STUDIO455SE Series is available through Toshiba’s nationwide network of dealers.
