IDEAlliance + IPA Announces New JDF Expert Series Module
Tuesday 21. December 2010 - IDEAlliance + IPA and The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization announced the addition of a JDF 1.4/1.4a module to the JDF Expert Certificate program.
The JDF Expert Certificate program is now a 15-part training program designed to teach anyone interested in process automation the fundamentals of JDF. “This program was designed with the printer and premedia professional in mind,” said Steve Bonoff, executive vice president of marketing at IDEAlliance + IPA.
“You don’t have to be a programmer to learn JDF. With this program students start with the fundamentals of reading XML, and then they learn how JDF is structured before learning how JDF is used. It’s a great program for folks that may be managing automation implementation programs at printing companies, at publishing companies, or at prepress or premedia shops.”
JDF 1.4 and 1.4a includes many evolutionary changes, but also some important additions that are covered in the new program module, to include:
Security and authentication in JMF for secure printing
Resource synchronization with JMF for network failure recovery
Content Creation
Automated marks creation
Automated layout for variable data printing
Additions for packaging and labeling printing
Varnishing
Modeling of device modules (useful in working with combination devices like integrated digital printing systems.)
The program is available as streaming media and is priced at only $399 for non-members and $299 for members of either IDEAlliance + IPA or CIP4. Students can opt to take an exam to become officially designated as a JDF Expert. Those that pass the test are issued a certificate and a “JDF Expert” logo that can be used on business cards and in correspondence. There is also a Spanish language version of the program available.
