Heidelberg announces two new representatives for Ireland
Monday 20. December 2010 - Declan Martin will be the frontline sales representative for Heidelberg in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and he will be supported by finishing specialist Mick McBrine.
Phil Buttress, sales manager for the area, says: “Ireland is an important market for Heidelberg and we have made these appointments to ensure our customers are well served by people who are knowledgeable, experienced in the industry and the Irish market and salesmen who can provide sound advice and really help make them successful. They will be supported by the largest product management, sales and service team in the industry, headed by Mark Summers, divisional director.”
Declan Martin joins from Xerox Ireland. He has had 20 years in the printing industry, including roles with Sackville Press, Wood Printcraft and News International, and seven years in sales, with Reprocentre prior to Xerox.
“I enjoy selling equipment. It draws on my experience of running presses and I understand what managing directors require,” says Mr Martin. “If you are selling against Heidelberg, you know that Heidelberg is the benchmark that other suppliers aspire to. Everyone knows them and what they do. They are today perceived as a solutions, applications provider and with their broad product range there will be opportunities in every print shop to free production bottlenecks and offer cost saving advice.”
Heidelberg announced that it would sell direct into Ireland earlier this year following the collapse of Millers. Mr Martin says this news has been met positively by customers who will benefit from having greater access to the Brentford showroom and the excellent service and back up that Heidelberg can provide.
“I cover a huge geographical area, it’s a big job but I know a lot of people in the trade and have good relations with people on both sides of the border,” says Mr Martin.
Equally enthusiastic about the potential of the job is Mick McBrine who joins Heidelberg as a finishing specialist after 16 years with API Foils (formerly Whiley Foils). He joined in 1994 as an R&D chemist but progressed, becoming market support chemist and then joining the sales team covering the north of the UK and Ireland. This put him in close contact with major groups including Chesapeake, Nampak and CCL.
“As soon as I saw the Heidelberg advert I was determined that this was an opportunity I was not going to let go by. The Heidelberg name is synonymous with high quality, market-leading, world class equipment. I have seen Heidelberg at exhibitions and heard some of my customers outlining the great service they have enjoyed from Heidelberg – those are the reasons behind my application.”
