Newave Packaging Selected by Oneota Community Food Co-op to Supply Eco-Friendly E-Wrap Food Film
Monday 13. December 2010 - Safetek International, Inc. (Pink Sheets: SFIN) an incubator of and investor in green technology and Eco-Friendly start-up companies, announced today that Oneota Community Food Co-op, a natural food Co-op has purchased the eco-friendly, non-toxic ewrap(TM) food film.
Newave Packaging, Inc., a Safetek International portfolio company provides ewrap(TM) Food Film, which will be used in packaging meats and vegetables for resale in the store, and offers a healthy alternative to PVC film. ewrap(TM) does not require any additional or specialized dispensers, it can be dispensed from the same dispensers currently being used by food packagers.
Commenting on this order, Dr. Fredrik Verkroost, President of Newave Packaging, Inc. said “It is encouraging to see specialty stores and natural food stores leading the way by switching to environmentally friendly products, allowing their customers to enjoy the benefits of wrapping food in non-toxic food film, such as our ewrap(TM) food film. Smart consumers are making a real impact in demanding a safer environment, all the way up the food chain. We believe we are just starting to scratch the surface, of what will undoubtedly become a national migration toward using ewrap(TM) products in food packaging, starting with natural food stores, to eventually being embraced by every type of grocer. As there is a minimal price differentiation, we really can’t see why any grocer wouldn’t want to make the switch.”
He added, “Oneota is a member of the National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) and our goal is to reach out to every single member of the NCGA, which numbers 145 stores in 32 states with combined annual sales of $1.4 billion. Natural food cooperatives are the true pioneers of the natural and organic food industry and ewrap is a natural fit. For more than 30 years, co-ops have been a favorite among people who want delicious, highest quality and healthy food. And now they have an opportunity to enjoy the highest quality and healthy food wrap too.”
David Lester, Manager of Oneota Community Food Co-op, added “we have been looking to reduce our use of PVC products, Newave Packaging’s new ewrap(TM) products enables us to offer our customers greater comfort when buying food that is packaged without the risk of contamination and helps us fulfill our commitment to a cleaner environment”
Because co-ops are member-driven organizations, they are on the cutting edge of providing shoppers with fresh, natural, organic, local food that is healthiest for people, animals, the environment and communities. Natural food co-ops focus on good, wholesome food because that’s what their consumer-owners want.
