WEENER, the development partner for biopolymers

Wednesday 08. December 2010 - Utilizable results achieved

Many plastics manufacturers are intensively concerning themselves with the development of new raw materials in order to achieve the best possible resource-friendly and environmentally-compatible results. Frequently these new materials are described as biopolymers.
Even though there is (still) no standard definition for biopolymers, they can be fundamentally distinguished in terms of materials, which were produced on the basis of renewable raw materials or those which are bio-degradable or are even both. The packaging industry is regarded as a trailblazer and impulse provider in terms of biopolymers, but it is also the focus of attention for the end-consumer who is placing increasing emphasis on quality and, at the same time, demanding the maximum degree of environmental compatibility.
WEENER has for some time been concerning itself with various concepts aimed at the development of packaging using biopolymers. To this end, the company has selected a series of different raw materials and tested them for their suitability and potential. In the meantime the company has been able to arrive at utilizable results and is recommended as a competent, expert contact when it comes to processing biopolymers.
