Good order situation for meurer.
Wednesday 08. December 2010 - The full order books require more flexibility and investments!
The meurer group produces machines for end and secondary packaging of products. In this industry the company is, with the largest scope of individual machines and packaging lines, one of the leaders on the global market and in the technology. The portfolio contains the final-packaging machines for case and film packaging, storage and transport systems, palletising equipment as well as electrical and control engineering. An example: a food maker packs frozen foods in folded boxes. With machines from meurer those folded boxes are to be grouped, packed in cartons or shrink-wrapped.
Then and now, meurer is an owner-managed family business which has the future in mind. In the last months the executive board and the meurer management team made many decisions and determined strategic objectives. This was necessary to be able to operate flexible on the market on a high order situation. “The demand for meurer machines on the market is on a record high for months. We have to be flexible even on this order backlog. Therefore we decided to let meurer grow”, holder Christel Meurer said. “This means in plain language: we invest in a successful future at the locations Fürstenau and Freren.”
Today meurer produces at two locations at a production and administration area of approx. 27.000 qm. This is equivalent to approx. 138 tennis courts. However, the space is not enough. With the view of the manufacturing plant in Fürstenau you can see the white tent immediately. This is an aluflex industry tent with an area of 1.000 qm which shall be used as an additional storage area at the beginning of 2011. Furthermore major replacements on and in the company buildings are planned.
The order situation and the aspired growth also mean that the company has increased requirements for qualified personnel. This year 50 new work contracts were concluded and there is still a demand on qualified personnel in many fields. The education of own qualified personnel is still an important instrument to get good offspring. In total, the meurer group offers nine apprenticed professions. For next year, 1st August, 2011 there are still some apprenticeship training positions left.
An important competitive advantage and impressive sales argument. To become more flexible and powerful the 40-hour-week was implemented in September 2010 in the whole company. The location Freren, where the single parts of the machines are produced, they work in a three shift operation. meurer also invested in the machinery. The site in Freren became another four CNC high-power milling machines.
The success and the, for this reason, good order situation is due to the high willingness to innovate. “At interpack 2008 we introduced the meurer CM/HHS high-speed horizontal flow wrapping machine. With a capacity up to 30.000 single packs per hour we are still unrivalled”, said Jörg Thomas, sales manager. “In May 2011 the next interpack occurs and we will present innovations and new developments again.” Jörg Thomas moved from Hamburg to Fürstenau and is one of the new faces in the meurer group and he and his family feel already at home in their new adopted country Fürstenau.
“10.000 machines for 1.500 clients in 83 countries we projected, constructed and produced from the foundation in 1969 up to the anniversary year 2009. And we are still growing!”, said Ludger Richter, managing director, in conclusion.
