Digital and flexo – the perfect match at Labelexpo India

Wednesday 08. December 2010 - First public showing in India of the Xeikon 3300 digital label press on stand C50

Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, will present its latest advances in digital label printing technology at Labelexpo India, which takes place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 8-11 December. The show marks the first public demonstration in India of the Xeikon 3300, the company’s award-winning high-volume label press. Visitors to the Xeikon stand C50 can also learn how digital printing technology is meeting the growing demand for quick turnaround, short-run label printing – and becoming the perfect complement to the flexo workflow.
“We’re looking forward to meeting all our Indian customers and demonstrating the Xeikon 3300 at the show,” says Filip Weymans, Business Development Manager Xeikon Labels & Packaging. “To meet the growing demand for short-run and variable data labels, many label converters in India and around the globe are turning to digital technology to complement their conventional flexo presses. WebTech Industries, one of India’s largest label printing companies, is a good example of this – having recently invested in two Xeikon 3030s,” explains Weymans. “A pioneer amongst Indian flexographic printers, the company was quick to see the developing trend in the market for smaller order quantities. Its investment in the digital technology has given the company a distinct competitive advantage in the market as it can now offer it clients the best of both worlds.”
A first for the Indian market
Visitors to the Xeikon stand at Labelexpo India will experience live demonstrations of the Xeikon 3300 printing a wide range of labels including pharmaceutical, food and high quality wine labels. They will be printed on a variety of local Indian substrates including materials from Avery Denison, Manter and Raflatac. Visitors will also have the opportunity to speak to Xeikon experts and the company’s local partners Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) and Monotech to determine the best solution for their individual business needs.
Award-winning label press
The Xeikon 3300, member of the Xeikon 3000 Series, is Xeikon’s award-winning high-volume press. Designed for use with the most common web width of 330mm (13?), the printer is also capable of handling web widths as narrow as 200mm (7.9?). With a top speed of 19.2 m/min (63 ft/min), the Xeikon 3300 is ideal for the production of self-adhesive and heat transfer labels. Incorporating full rotary print technology, with variable repeat length, the speed of the printer is not affected by label size or number of colors used.
Featuring true 1200 dpi resolution and 1200 x 3600 dpi addressability, the Xeikon 3300 delivers extraordinary image quality with high definition and smooth tone transitions for photorealistic high-impact labels. The printer is standard-equipped with 5 color stations, 4 for the standard process colors while the 5th allows the use of spot colors.
The Xeikon 3300 won the prestigious New Innovation Award at the Label Industry Global Awards during Labelexpo Americas 2008 and was the first digital label press to be awarded an InterTech Technology Award in 2009.
Fit for food
Like the rest of the Xeikon 3000 Series, the Xeikon 3300 can print on an unmatched range of substrates including self-adhesive films, paper, transparent and opaque foils, and paperboard with weights ranging from 40 to 350 gsm (27 lb text to 122 lb cover). The printer also utilizes Xeikon’s QA-I toner, which meets all the applicable FDA guidelines for indirect food contact under room temperature as well as direct food contact for dry food substances containing no surface oil or fat. QA-I toners also deliver levels of light fastness far exceeding others on the market today.
