Hearst Magazines International (HMI) President & CEO Duncan Edwards today announced that Cosmopolitan, the world’s largest-selling magazine for young women, will launch an edition in Mongolia with the December 2010 issue, on sale December 7. Cosmopolitan Mongolia will be published in partnership with local publisher Irmuun Multimedia LLC.
Cosmopolitan Mongolia is the 61st international edition of the magazine to launch around the world. The brand’s most recent launch was in Vietnam in March 2010.
Edwards said, “With eleven successful editions in Asia already, the Cosmopolitan brand has resonated very well with the women in this region of the world. We’re pleased to be partnering with Irmuun Media to bring the Cosmo voice to the Mongolian market.”
The magazine’s debut issue, featuring Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls on its cover, will be 160 pages, about 25 percent of them advertising. Bolor Zaankhuu will serve as editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan Mongolia. “I am truly excited to help young Mongolian women be ‘Cosmo girls’ and to motivate them to be fun, fearless females who aim high, reach their dreams and live life to the fullest,” said Zaankhuu.
On December 7th and 8th, a launch event for the magazine will take place in Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar, consisting of a two-day show for 14,000 Cosmo readers, followed by a VIP party for partners, advertisers and influencers from the worlds of entertainment and fashion. Performers will include international artists such as Todes ballet dance group, opera singer Oleg Bezinskih from Russia, Urna-Chahar Tugchi from Germany and DJ Alisa from Switzerland.
“Hearst Magazines International is a best-in-class partner and we are very excited to work with them to introduce Cosmopolitan to an audience of stylish, young Mongolian women,” said Delgerjargal Anbat, general director, Irmuun Multimedia LLC. “We expect that the magazine will get a positive response from readers and advertisers.”
