“Extend Co-operation further”: Fourth EU-Israel Business Dialogue in Berlin
Monday 06. December 2010 - On December 6, 2010, the fourth EU-Israel Business Dialogue was held in Berlin with 40 European und Israeli business representatives, politicians and the Israeli economics minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer.
The joint dialogue in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology was aimed to strenghten the co-operation between both regions. Chairmen on the European and Israeli sides were Mathias Döpfner (Axel Springer AG) and Yossi Vardi (International Technologies), respectively.
Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer AG, said: “Both regions have similiar economic, cultural and security interests. Through the EU-Israel Business Dialogue the co-operation should be extended further.” Yossi Vardi, CEO of International Technologies, added: “Europe as well as Israel have unbelievable competence in knowledge, research and business and can benefit even more through overall partnerships.”
At the fourth EU-Israel Business Dialogue economic and political relationships, university education in Israel and new investing opportunities were discussed. Among the European participants were René Obermann (Deutsche Telekom AG), Karl-Heinz Streibich (Software AG) and Andrew Standley (Head of the EU Delegation to Israel). On the Israeli side Michael Federmann (Federmann Enterprises), Yehuda Lucien Bronicki (Ormat) and Ran Curiel (Israeli Ambassador to the European Union) took part.
The idea of the EU-Israel Business Dialogue was originally born by the European Commission. Since 2007 it has taken place once a year either in Tel Aviv or Berlin.
Also on December 6, 2010, the Israeli-German Innovation Day took place in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. It was hosted by the German economics minister Rainer Brüderle und his Israeli colleague Binyamin Ben-Eliezer.
