Verifying the coding on packaging
Wednesday 01. December 2010 - Incorrectly marked packages are one of the most frequent causes for recall actions. HEUFT SYSTEMTECHNIK GMBH will be showcasing a newly developed system for optical character recognition at the Emballage 2010 exhibition (Stand E 002 / Hall 5a) which identifies packaging which has not been coded or incorrectly coded in good time and withdraws it from circulation.
The HEUFT VX OCR not only checks the presence of best-before dates (BBDs), barcodes or data matrix codes on filled packages but also verifies their correctness as regards contents. The system achieves maximum detection accuracy due to an LED illumination, a high-resolution camera and the highly precise HEUFT reflexx image analysis technology even at high line outputs of up to 72,000 individual packages per hour.
The HEUFT VX OCR also reads the marking on packaging accurately in the most difficult ambient conditions such as in front of a dark background. The new development can check up to two lines at the same time even in the high speed section with the standard software – even more is possible with optional extensions. Incorrectly coded packages are consistently removed from the production flow. An automatic date adaptation prevents misadjustments and minimises the false rejection rate of the system for verifying the codes on all types of packaging.
