Color Management Conference Offers Perspective

Tuesday 23. November 2010 - Printing Industries of America is pleased to announced the addition of a third keynote to the Color Management Conference, taking place December 4-7, in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael Rodriguez, Process Director at RR Donnelley, will be sharing his experience with color management in a keynote presentation titled, Perspectives in Managing color--Past, Present, and Future. (Or the Tinted Ramblings of a Color Geek!), which will touch on the historical foundations, modern evolution, and future dimensions of color management.

The enduring challenge of color reproduction is suggested in the very terms used to describe its control. “Color Management” was ironically intended to make color automatic, i.e., no need to manage it at all. This address is a great compliment to the many other sessions as it provides some perspective and understanding of the fundamentals and origins of color management techniques.
Michael Rodriguez has been a digital technologist at RR Donnelley since 1986. Since 1991 he has served as chief color expert across the company’s prepress and printing platforms. He has been a strong advocate for color standards through participation in SWOP, GRACoL, ISO TC130, ICC, and IDEAlliance and was a key contributor in developing the reference print characterizations in wide use today.
Perspectives in Managing Color–Past, Present, and Future (Or the Tinted Ramblings of a Color Geek!) joins The Challenges and Vision of a Winery with Color Management and The Standards Movement in Digital Imaging. These keynotes will provide attendees with a thorough understanding of color management and its place in a print shop.
The Color Management Conference offers the most up-to-date information on color management and is ideal for creative professionals, digital and wide-format printers, professionals new to color management, packaging professionals, photographers, and prepress and proofing professionals. With an abundance of sessions, in-depth case studies, and cutting-edge vendors, you can be sure that this conference will enhance any printer’s color management ability.
