GSE Dispensings IPS match presents economically viable paste management solution for T-shirt printers
Friday 29. October 2010 - With margins under pressure due to high levels of competition and rising raw materials costs, textile printers need to keep material waste to a minimum. Using an automated dispensing system to prepare colours of liquid pigment dyes is essential if the printer is to meet the global brand-owners' demands for quality consistency and sustainability.
GSE Dispensing, the global leader in gravimetric dispensing systems for the textile, coating and graphics industries, has introduced a compact system for T-shirt printing situations, where relatively low quantities of screen paste are used.
The IPS match is designed for dispensing batches of up to 5 kg, from a maximum of 20 components. Featuring anti-corrosive stainless steel valves, air-driven diaphragm pumps and proprietary Windows-based Ink Management Software, IPS match is designed for speed and accuracy, helping the printer to confidently deliver the most challenging colour requirements, virtually on-demand’. Liquids are dispensed to within one gram of the desired weight, and a 5 kg recipe from four components can be ready for the press in less than four minutes. Because the software allows storage of previous job data, repeat orders are easily recalled and dispensed to consistently high quality standards.
The system enables significant savings, as printers can limit their paste usage to the requirements for the job. The software is powerful enough to calculate surplus paste or dye formulations from previous jobs into new recipes, so that materials normally discarded are reused efficiently. Such a task is usually too complex to execute when mixing paste manually. In this way, some printers have managed to reduce their paste and dye consumption by up to 30 percent.
An automatic cleaning system keeps maintenance costs to a minimum, while a built-in diagnostics program allows GSE Dispensing’s help-desk to analyse the system’s database and overall machine status, almost eliminating the chance of machine down-time.
With the option of IMS Premium software, operators also enjoy the benefit of improved order and stock management tools.
Although GSE Dispensing’s headquarters are based in the Netherlands, the company has a global network of distribution agencies whose qualified staff provide the local customer base with technical support and advice, in the local language.
Maarten Hummelen, marketing director at GSE Dispensing, comments: “Automating the colour mixing stage is essential if a printer seeks to meet today’s uncompromising quality standards while protecting profit margins. IPS match finally presents an economically viable paste management solution for those who work with relatively small colour quantities.”
