Abbeyhine debuts in spectral measurement on the back of press purchase

October 2010 - Director Tom Allum of trade printer Abbeyhine describes the Axis Control spectrophotometer on the new Speedmaster XL75-5 the company is installing this month as, "a production tool, just one part of an overall package that will give us a 25-30% increase in throughput over the press we are replacing".
The Bury St Edmunds-based company already handles work for many print buyers throughout the UK, including agencies and print management organisations. To continue to meet their customers expectations of quality print, with ever faster turnarounds and competitive pricing, Abbeyhine was looking for a press which would give it increased flexibility with no compromise in quality. The XL75 became a natural choice.
The XL75 uses an automatic cartridge inking system and a reverse osmosis unit to ensure that water in the dampening circuit is stable and consistent, a combination that optimises printed results.
“Our make-ready and running speeds will also be improved with the addition of the closed-loop colour system on the XL75,” says Mr Allum. “Well gain increased output while continuing to reduce waste, and I believe our customers will really benefit from the flexibility the new press gives us.”
Abbeyhine is already FOGRA approved and is now working toward the new ISO 12647 colour standard. Founded in 1982, the company has evolved from being a forms producer to one that now offers a wide range of products and services, from design to commercial print, labels and computer stationery. Once installed, the XL75 will produce a full range of general commercial work, including leaflets, brochures and folders, running on a double-day shift alongside an existing SM74-5 and a PM52-5.
