OPTIMA REPRODUCE REALISTIC INLAY WOODWORK WITH INCA COLUMBIA TURBO
Wednesday 13. October 2010 - Optima, Canada was asked to produce furniture featuring multiple wood grain effects for the Matelas La Pensee showroom using Exterior Medite, which is an MDF panel developed specifically for use in a wide range of external applications including external signs and woodwork as well as marine craft interiors.
In order to reproduce realistic inlay woodwork, they scanned many different types of wood grains in high resolution before creating the artwork to give the final inlay effect. Using the Inca Columbia Turbo they were able to print onto pre-cut shapes, which were then airbrush varnished to increase the wood grain effect. The reproduction of the wood grain colours and the fine detail achieved on the final pieces meant it was difficult to distinguish between real wood and the printed furniture.
