Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. Automates Cutting Operation with POLAR 92 X

Friday 08. October 2010 - Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. Rancho Cordova, Calif., a subsidiary of Franklin Templeton Investments, reports the installation of a POLAR 92 X high-speed, programmable paper cutter. The new machine replaces an older-model POLAR 92 EMC, and joins a POLAR 92 EM in the company’s cutting department.

“One of our biggest goals is to identify, from month to month and year to year, opportunities to improve the speed and efficiency of our operation,” said Bob Victorino, production manager. “The automation on the new POLAR 92 X has sped up our cutting and trim time significantly. Thanks to the new cutter’s larger work surface, easy programmability, and faster action of the back gauge, we are about 50 percent more productive than we were with the POLAR 92 EMC.”

Run properly, Victorino explains, an in-plant operation saves its parent company a substantial amount in print expense relative to market. Accordingly, Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. emphasizes efficiency and seeks to improve it wherever possible. At Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc. that effort extends from preparing files both for print as well as for output globally. “Our prepress department handles files whether we print them or not,” Victorino said. “Machinery is a small but significant consideration for us; nevertheless, we recognize the benefits of automation in helping us improve our all-around effectiveness. Our new POLAR 92 X cutter is a perfect example.”
