Screen launches ultra high-speed Truepress Jet520ZZ
Friday 01. October 2010 - Printing at 175,000 pages/hr the new Screen Truepress Jet520ZZ targets high-volume transactional, direct mail, newspaper and book applications
Screen, the print on demand and imaging specialist, announces the launch of the ultra high-throughput Truepress Jet520ZZ printing system. The flagship of the Truepress Jet520 series, the new system is capable of high quality, variable colour printing at 220 m/min, equivalent to 175,000 A4 pages per hour.
The new press is almost double the productivity of the current top-of the range Truepress Jet520 model and has been developed to meet the growing demand for a wide variety of quality, value-added personalised printed products. With the capacity to print 4 million pages a day the system is targeted at very high-volume transactional, direct mail, newspaper and book printing operations.
The Truepress Jet520 is the worlds most successful continuous-feed colour inkjet printer with over 200 machines in production worldwide today. The new Truepress Jet520ZZ achieves new levels of POD (print on demand) performance onto paper widths of up to 570mm* (22.5 in) and is part of Screens strategy of continually expanding the range of applications for the Truepress multi-tone piezo inkjet technology. The Truepress Jet520 series allows users to choose the best system for their specific application.
Controlled by the innovative EQUIOS workflow and RIP, the Truepress is capable of the latest variable processing, including PDF/VT, required for high-speed printing. In addition, an optional JetInspection unit checks barcodes and OCR fonts created in variable printing and promotes stable print quality and high reliability.
The Truepress Jet520 range of engines includes both single engine duplex (SED) and dual engine duplex (DED) options, alongside monochrome and colour versions, and a variety of speed options. The SED configuration prints at 420 A4 pages per minute (64 m/min). This model can be economic from as few as 1 million impressions per month, yet can also produce over 5 million as demand grows. As volumes increase, it is simple to add a second printing unit to form a DED press capable of printing duplex at speeds ranging from 64m per minute right up to 220m per minute. The engines combine multi-grey-level technology with Screens unique colour handling expertise for the highest-quality reproduction of photographs, illustrations and text.
“Screen is in a very strong position with the ability to offer the widest range of machines that can print the broadest range of mono and variable colour POD applications from entry level to very high speed, says Brian Forsdike, president of Screen Europe. “Flexibility, backed by top performance, high quality and reliability are the key features of the range and this is what the industry is investing in. While other manufacturers are still bringing first-generation POD machines to market, we are already entering the second generation of high-speed inkjet.
