Leachprint adds automatic folding capability
Wednesday 22. September 2010 - An Abingdon company with a high volume folding requirement has turned to Heidelberg for its latest Stahlfolder TH 56 automated buckle folder plus additional knife unit.
“We have used Stahlfolders for over 30 years and know they are reliable. On this latest model the pressure and gate settings on all the plates are driven from a programme to give fast and easy set up. Previously our folders have been manual,” says Leachprint managing director Neil Stratford
The company retains three of its four Stahlfolders which will continue to work on pharmaceutical products which have relatively standard formats. Pharmaceutical work accounts for 70% of the folding but there is also a wide spectrum of commercial work for religious, charitable bodies and trade and industry generally. Here the quick change capability of the TH 56 will be fully tested. The new folder will be delivered next month.
The TH 56 model is a flat sheet 50,000 cycles an hour folder capable of handling sheets of between 14 x 18cm and 56 x 90cm.
Leachprint, which is 109 years old and still family run, operates with six presses (four of them Heidelberg models) so the folders will be well fed. The company offers a design to delivery service, operating flexible day shifts.
