The Label Makers finalises Xeikon 3030 purchase
Tuesday 21. September 2010 - Bradford, UK, based label specialist The Label Makers Ltd has finalized its decision to purchase a Xeikon 3030 digital color label press from Xeikon in conjunction with a highly sophisticated finishing line for offline label enhancement.
The Label Makers Managing Director, David Webster, attending the Labelexpo show in Chicago, commented on his companys latest investment in digital label printing equipment: “The combination of the Xeikon digital engine and a highly sophisticated finishing line means we can truly satisfy customer requirements for premium-quality short-run work at competitive rates. The market is requiring greater flexibility from its supply base with shorter and variable print runs and this latest investment program means we will have the facility to deliver the expectations of our customers irrespective of run length.”
The addition of the new digital line will further extend the companys wide range of label printing solutions, which already include flexographic, lithographic, letterpress and silk screen production techniques, all featuring the use of UV inks. “The Label Makers latest investment in Xeikon digital print technology continues to drive the business forward whilst keeping customer service as its central focus,” added David Webster.
Toner Quality and Performance
With regard to his decision to purchase Xeikon digital technology, David said: “We have been watching ink jet developments closely, but still see the need for further work with this technology. The constant improvements being made by Xeikon are keeping these machines ahead of the rest of the market. The latest enhancements in toner quality and performance, including the improvements made to the one-pass white printing component, have kept Xeikon out in front of the market in our opinion. The 1200dpi print quality along with the extended color gamut offered by the enhanced QA-I toner products ensures excellent color reproduction on conventional substrates. Whilst we could wait for ink jet to further improve, that doesnt help our customers. By investing now we can be producing high-quality short-run work – including personalized production – for our customers when they need it.”
Differentiate through Personalization
Having built a strong reputation for high-quality conventional print through its UV litho and UV flexo combination presses, the move into combination digital print will only serve to enhance The Label Makers offering to both new and existing customers. “Personalization is something that can really only be achieved with digital, and customers are already looking to this as a potential way to differentiate their products from the competition, especially at the high-end of the market. By adding these capabilities we open up a whole range of new possibilities.”
Unique in its collection of production facilities, The Label Makers will be able not only to offer short run, high-quality digital print, but also a full range of embellishments demanded by its growing client base. The post-press line offers both hot and cold foiling (utilizing traditional flat dies), embossing, two flexo print heads, and die-cutting. It is recognized as the most sophisticated finishing platform available in the UK.
Commenting on The Label Makers order, Greg Neesham, Sales Director for Punch Graphix UK, said: “The Label Makers has a strong focus on producing label products for high-end high-quality products from the toiletries, beverages, and food markets. Speed and equipment performance are important to them as a supplier, but label quality is absolutely critical. This purchase represents a very strong endorsement to the continuous quality improvements that we make to the Xeikon toner and the Xeikon digital printing hardware.”
