Web start-up Grapho Media chooses wide range of Fujifilm products to sit at the heart of the business

Friday 03. September 2010 - Grapho Media, the UK’s first web start-up in over 10 years, has opted for a range of Fujifilm products to help drive the new business venture. Alongside Fujifilm’s XMF cross-media workflow, the company has supplied a ‘lo-chem’ plate production solution, comprising PlateRite 8800S B1 platesetter, FLH-Z ‘ZAC’ processor and Brillia HD LH-PJE plates, together with a number of pressroom solutions from Fujifilm’s PRESSMAX range.

When this new commercial web printer, based in Deeside, North Wales, launched in April this year, sales & marketing director Vic Rollinson immediately started discussions with Fujifilm as he looked to invest in suitable workflow and CTP solutions.

“We knew that we wanted to invest in the best products the industry has to offer and a number of other print service providers recommended that we speak to Fujifilm as a trusted industry supplier,” comments Vic. “Fujifilm’s XMF workflow includes imposition software as standard and was by far the most versatile workflow system available on the market, making it our first choice. And, as it’s built on the APPE, we knew that we wouldn’t experience any problems with transparencies. In addition, the exclusive 3D proofing option it provides has become an invaluable sales tool for us.”

Vic continues: “By using Fujifilm’s low-chemistry ‘ZAC’ processor and PLE plates, we are using much less chemistry and water than if we were using some of the other plate solutions on the market, something that fits perfectly with our environmental policy. There’s no compromise on quality either, which ensures our customers are happy too. And, at a production speed of 32 plates/hour and increasingly running for longer intervals, the platesetter has no problem keeping up with the requirements of our varied print jobs.”

Fujifilm’s XMF is unique in being built from the ground up around JDF and the Adobe PDF Print Engine. With Fujifilm’s image processing, imposition and intelligent automation technologies built-in, XMF improves the control of quality across multiple print processes, increasing efficiency and productivity, ensuring colour consistency and optimising print production.

The FLH-Z is a CTP plate processor designed primarily for use with Fujifilm Brillia HD LH-PJE and HD LH-PLE positive working thermal CTP plates. It incorporates Fujifilm’s latest intelligent ‘ZAC’ microprocessor control system which helps to achieve consistent, high quality plate production with minimal chemistry usage – therefore also getting the environmental “tick” next to its name.

Fujifilm’s PRESSMAX pressroom chemistry and press care products have been designed specifically with environmental benefits in mind, while still reducing costs and improving press performance, efficiency and print quality.

Vic concludes: “As quality, flexibility and reliability are at the heart of our business, we are pleased that Fujifilm is able to provide us with the necessary tools to make this motto a reality. The standard of service we have received to date has been second-to-none and I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with them again in the future.”
