Vertis Communications Selects Goss Sunday Press to Meet Growing Direct Marketing Customer Needs

Friday 03. September 2010 - State-of-the-Art Technology Will Enable Broader Choices of Unique Formats and Greater Speed to Market

Vertis Communications, a results-driven marketing communications company that delivers inventive advertising, direct marketing and interactive solutions to prominent brands across North America, announced today that it will add a Goss Sunday 2000 press to its already extensive printing abilities. The state-of-the-art, seven-unit press will be installed at Vertis’ leading direct marketing facility in Chalfont, Penn., in late 2010 to drive optimum return on investment for clients through elevated capabilities in customization and tailoring of print communications, and the highest possible quality in vibrant color replication, finishes and specialty designs.

“We purchased the Goss press to produce specialized direct mail created with greater efficiencies. The advanced production system will excel at short-run lengths as well as long-run projects, allowing Vertis to better support marketers who require complex communications personalized to the interests of their most critical audiences.”
“Our clients are being challenged with more condensed in-home dates and stringent regulatory requirements,” commented Scott Berry, senior vice president of sales for Vertis Communications. “Because of the time-sensitive nature of these industry leaders’ programs, we are making this investment to address their needs, especially during peak volume seasons. We will deliver innovative formats with fashion colors to help clients stand out from their competition and engage customers.”

Doug Mann, Vertis’ senior vice president of operations, added, “We purchased the Goss press to produce specialized direct mail created with greater efficiencies. The advanced production system will excel at short-run lengths as well as long-run projects, allowing Vertis to better support marketers who require complex communications personalized to the interests of their most critical audiences.”

The Goss Sunday 2000 press includes sophisticated automation features and boasts printing speeds up to 2,400 feet-per-minute. Goss Automatic Transfer technology will allow operators to switch black ink units on-the-run for versioning and customization. The closed loop color and visual error detection use high-resolution cameras and powerful software to inspect 100 percent of the web and compare to a master image for zero defects.

“The system for Vertis, with the long cut-off, rewinder and automation features, illustrates the versatility of our Sunday press platform and how these presses can be highly flexible to meet any of Vertis’ customer project needs,” said Graham Trevett, Goss International vice president for Commercial Web Sales in North America. “The unit’s print quality, operability and low-waste efficiencies were also key factors in the selection of the Sunday 2000, and we look forward to helping Vertis achieve a new level of printing functionality and technology with the installation of the press.”
