The Boston Globe Appoints Jason Kissell as Vice President, Advertising
Thursday 26. August 2010 - The Boston Globe today appointed Jason Kissell to the position of vice president, advertising, effective immediately. Mr. Kissell will oversee advertising for The Boston Globe, Boston.com, and specialty publications. He will continue to report to Lisa DeSisto, chief advertising officer, The Boston Globe, and general manager, Boston.com.
Previously Mr. Kissell, 39, was the executive director of advertising for the Globe, responsible for all print and digital revenue for the classified categories (auto, real estate, and recruitment), local retail advertising, “Design New England” magazine, and the Boston.com “Your Town” initiative.
“Jason has developed innovative ways to strengthen our local advertising position by establishing strategic business agreements and building deep relationships with customers,” said Ms. DeSisto. “This promotion will allow Jason to extend his leadership and expertise to all categories of our business.”
Mr. Kissell joined the Globe in 2002 as an outside sales executive within the Globe’s multi-media recruitment division. He went on to become the director of business development and strategy, and then managing director. He also managed the strategic planning and niche product development functions for the Globe.
Before working at the Globe, Mr. Kissell was director of marketing for RetailExchange.com, a B2B internet marketplace, and also worked at Titleist and Footjoy Worldwide, where he was brand manager for the Pinnacle golf ball product line.
Mr. Kissell is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
