CCI Begins Implementation of a Corporate NewsGate Data Center Solution at The Dallas Morning News

Thursday 26. August 2010 - CCI announced today that A. H. Belo Corporation (NYSE: AHC) has selected CCI’s integrated NewsGate solution as part of A. H. Belo’s broader efforts to increase efficiency within and across its print and digital publishing processes.

This solution includes fully-integrated digital publishing capabilities based on technology provided by Escenic, a leading online publishing system vendor. CCI’s project with A. H. Belo kicked off in May 2010 and is initially focused on The Dallas Morning News.

Jim Moroney, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of The Dallas Morning News, said, “Upgrading to CCI NewsGate, with their collaboration with Escenic, helps us integrate the workflows of publishing a daily newspaper while continually updating a wide array of digital platforms, improving newsroom efficiency. Ultimately, it allows us to provide our readers with more engaging and seamless experiences – and offer our advertisers the flexibility they need to reach those audiences. We’re pleased to work with CCI and Escenic – there are no better content-management partners in the publishing industry.”

When selecting CCI NewsGate, A. H. Belo also focused on the built-in functionality for content sharing and shared production across multiple properties.

George Rodrigue, Managing Editor at The Dallas Morning News, said, “A greater level of content sharing and perhaps even shared production is something we certainly need to consider. A modern content management system should have this capability. Since consumption of news and information is changing so rapidly, it is important for us to build a flexible platform that can adapt to meet the future needs of our customers.”

Other key features that are expected to provide efficiencies in the editorial workflow are the bundling of all content items for both print and online in NewsGate story folders and the dynamically updated story budgets.

The Dallas Morning News’ websites are expected to launch on the new system around the beginning of 2011, followed by the roll-out of newspaper production, which is expected to conclude late in the first quarter of 2011.
