Ricoh Green Reports Spell Success in the Educational Market

Thursday 05. August 2010 - Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment and advanced document management solutions and services, today announced the success of @Remote Green Reports in the educational market.

In particular, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), located in Annapolis, Md., has seen the benefits of @Remote Green Reports. Using Ricoh’s @Remote Intelligent Management System, the school district was able to track and better manage its print device usage, in turn moving forward its district-wide paper reduction initiative.

According to generated @Remote Green Reports data, from July – December 2009, AACPS saved more than 20 million sheets of paper, equaling 44,000 reams or almost $116,000 in paper costs. For 2010, the savings thus far have totaled approximately $108,729. In the last six months of 2009, AACPS printed nearly 76 million sheets of paper on the fleet’s 180 Ricoh networked print devices. The school district achieved a 60 percent print reduction rate by printing 44 million of these pages as duplex. @Remote Green Reports also estimate that the AACPS saved an amount of paper equivalent to more than 2,500 trees(1), with a projected reduction of 245,000 kilograms of CO2 by not turning trees into paper.(2)

@Remote Green Reports, part of the Ricoh @Remote Fleet Reports, tracks environmental metrics for networked Ricoh print devices, measuring and reporting on device usage, including the amount of paper being consumed in different paper modes along with the amount of time devices spend in energy saving modes. Having access to print fleet usage data provides school systems and universities with a means to develop and track environmental print initiatives.

Customers in the educational market share common concerns in the managing of print devices in their fleet. Office equipment often is located throughout many school campuses within a school district. @Remote Green Reports supply output metrics for multiple devices across a large geographical area, providing real-time usage data for the entire print fleet. This visibility offers constant and efficient control of the fleet, allowing for quick responses to changing usage.

“Given the nationwide trend toward expense reduction coupled with positive environmental impact, Ricoh @Remote Green Reports is a powerful tool for school systems to both minimize paper consumption and effectively manage their print budgets,” said Shinji Satoh, director, Solutions Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “We are extremely pleased with the results of this technology in how it saves school districts money, paper and allows for them to better manage their own important environmental print initiatives.”

With the installation of @Remote, customers receive automated meter readings, automated toner and service alerts. In addition, Fleet Reports provide customers with access to web-based population and utilization reports, which further enhance their ability to self-manage and change print requirements remotely throughout the entire print fleet, as demanded. Green Reports are one component of the overall Fleet Reports.

Ricoh offers a full range of digital imaging products suited for any workgroup environment from SMB to Enterprise, including color and black and white multifunctional copiers, printers, facsimile systems, scanners, digital duplicators, wide format copiers and digital cameras.
