BUTLER, TANNER AND DENNIS AUTOMATES ITS BOOK ESTIMATING

Thursday 05. August 2010 - The Selection of Prism WIN 2010 MIS Automates Estimating and Uses JDF to Simplify Prepress Production

The renowned UK book printer, Butler Tanner and Dennis (BT&D), has chosen Prism WIN 2010 to replace its incumbent MIS after an
exhaustive search of available solutions. WIN 2010 solves the unique requirements of book estimating. The project is for a full MIS including real time Kodak Prinergy JDF integration, production scheduling, and shop floor data capture

Toby Culff, BT&D Commercial Director, explains, “Butler, Tanner & Dennis prides itself on the speed, quality and consistency of its product, and the provision of first-class customer service. Up-to-date and accurate information is central to this commitment and, so, the choice of MIS solution was a key decision. Our requirements are very specific and a simple ‘off-the-shelf’ product would not suffice. The flexibility of the Prism WIN 2010 system, and its capacity to accommodate the variety and complexity of our product offering, identified them as the ideal partner. We expect the new Prism WIN 2010 system to deliver real benefits to us and to our customers when it is implemented later this year.”
Prism worked with BT&D throughout the evaluation process to develop a working prototype which gave the management team the confidence to move forward with the implementation.
“A full MIS purchase decision involves the evaluation of hundreds of functional requirements,” says Robin Cook, sales manager for Prism. “Comparing those requirements to software functionality can be a daunting task without being able to work with a prototype system. Prism worked closely with BT&D to develop a prototype and painstakingly addressed the business requirements during our demonstrations. This approach will go a long way to ensuring the success of this implementation.”
