Collano to present specialty adhesives
Friday 30. July 2010 - Collano will present specialty adhesives for labels, adhesive tapes and specialty packaging at Labelexpo Americas at booth 5925. The company will focus on new product lines for wash-off, self-adhesive labels, an adhesive for difficult substrates and specialty security adhesives.
A new product line of permanently detachable adhesives will be introduced at the show. Collano L1 1164 and Collano L1 1202 are solventless hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesives which are suited to producing wash-off, clear-on-clear labels for glass bottles. Labels made with these adhesives are permanent, yet can be removed without trace in bottle-washing lines. This means that even reusable bottles can now be provided with transparent labels.
Also shown will be the Collano L1 1255 permanent adhesive, which creates a strong bond with difficult substrates and is said to be particularly suited to fixing labels to car tires.
Collano has installed a pilot coater from Nordson equipped with a slot die, a curtain coater and a spray head. It enables converters to conduct customized application tests and produce high-quality samples for feasibility analyses and commercial trials. It is also suitable for producing small batches of samples for field testing. In addition to conventional hotmelts, it is capable of coating substrates with UV-curing hotmelts. It boasts corona treatment for improving adhesion to difficult substrates, such as polyolefins. It also features curtain coating for streak-free application, which is ideal for clear-on-clear labels, even at coating weights of 5 gsm and on temperature sensitive substrates.
