Heidelberg enjoys a post Ipex B2 litho bonanza
Thursday 22. July 2010 - Despite the buzz around the launch of B2 digital solutions at Ipex, Heidelberg has enjoyed a litho sales bonanza in this format in the past few weeks.
“We even took five Speedmaster XL 75 orders in one week,” says George Clarke, managing director. “It appears to be the press that everyone wants at the moment and since its launch two years ago we have sold around 350 units in the UK alone and the figure is rising rapidly. Over the past 12 months we have even seen some B1 printers investing in B2 technology as a supplement to their existing kit, companies like ESP Colour and the Aldridge Print Group.”
Heidelbergs Speedmaster XL 75 can handle stocks from 0.03mm to 0.8mm board with rolling power that guarantees top quality results. The press features a larger sheet format (530 x 750mm in commercial mode or 605 x 750mm in packaging or label format) and with the option of running at 18,000sph straight (15,000sph perfecting) it is a formidable machine.
Matt Rockley, marketing manager for B2 and B3 products at Heidelberg, says: “The XL 75 has become a bestseller for industrial printers keen to run lean and to attain top quality. It is our premium product and offers the option of running with Autoplate XL simultaneous plate changing and any of our range of spectral colour measurement devices (Inpress Control, Image Control or Axis Control) as well as JDF networking with our Prinect workflow products.
“Alongside the XL 75 we also sell the SM 74 which is a professional press and this is right for those requiring a workhorse but not requiring the same very high level of automation as the XL 75 user. Some users even like both together, such as Bishops Printers which bought one of each B2 model long perfectors earlier this year. “
Heidelberg is proud to be able to offer IPA free B2 solutions to suit the environmentally-minded printer.
