Courier Corporation relies on a fourth LITHOMAN
Tuesday 20. July 2010 - A new web press fuels the increased capacity needs for Courier
Courier Corporation approved the investment in a fourth manroland LITHOMAN web press for its Kendallville, Indiana plant. The LITHOMAN will be installed toward the end of 2010.
Courier Corporation publishes, prints and sells books. Founded in 1824, today Courier has two lines of business: full-service book manufacturing and specialty publishing. These include educational, religious, and specialty book publishing on every topic under the sun from investments to gardening.
Like the three LITHOMAN presses already in production, the fourth press will have four printing units on a single 1,460 millimeters web. The press will be equipped for extremely fast makereadies with semi-automatic plate changers and the manroland QuickStart package. Complementing the high speed press is a faster PFI-5 drive folder with two quarter folders. The double round cylinders perform at a maximum speed of 45,000 impressions per hour (90,000 signatures per hour).
On the safe side with TelePresence
Courier believes in manroland printnet services. The PECOM control system will be fully integrated into the workflow. The TelePresence system will provide remote diagnostics and around the clock support. The TeleConsult system offers a quarterly press performance report to analyze and to help continuously improve production efficiencies.
A dedicated manroland project team will manage the press project from installation to start-up along with specialized training on maintenance and new upgraded features.
