FUJIFILM INTRODUCES CUSTOMERS TO NEW LIBRARY OVERVIEW ANALYSIS SERVICE FOR TAPE BACKUP ENVIRONMENTS

Wednesday 14. July 2010 - ReadVerify Appliance-Based Solution Powered by Crossroads

FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc., a division of Fujifilm Corporation the leading global manufacturer of data storage media , today announced it will introduce a new ReadVerify Appliance-Based solution, Library Overview Analysis Service, to its customers in collaboration with Crossroads Systems, Inc., a leading provider of solutions to protect, secure and restore business-critical data.
“Storage administrators and IT managers continue to face new challenges in managing the growing amount of data that must be managed and stored for longer periods of time,” said Peter Faulhaber, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. “Our customers are looking to us for solutions that go beyond storage media and we are pleased to be able to provide them with innovative services like this.”
This new service will help Fujifilm’s customers to analyze their tape library environments through convenient reports delivered through a secure Web portal. Within seconds, a data center manager can assess the source of protracted or inefficient tape back ups and proactively resolve issues before they become costly.
With no software agents to install, the Library Overview Analysis Service is a solution that integrates seamlessly into any existing tape environment. Maintenance updates are transparent to users so that the focus can be placed on cost reduction, performance improvements and maximizing utilization. Data collection is performed out-of-band of the backup or data application – with no impact on the existing storage infrastructure.
The Library Overview Analysis Service offers insight into the root causes of data errors, incomplete backups, system bottlenecks, and component failures, while minimizing the risk to corporate data. The Library Overview Analysis Service identifies low performing devices, under- or over-utilized assets, and degrading components, and provides major cost savings through reductions in capital expenditures, ongoing maintenance, and premature device wear. Detailed information offers a quick drill down to the root cause of failure, providing reductions in time, labor, misdiagnoses, and wasted tape media.
In addition to the Library Overview Analysis Service, Fujifilm offers a comprehensive catalog of library monitoring services in conjunction with Crossroads, Inc. Last year, three services were announced including Tape Environment Analysis, Archive Verification Service, and Library Monitoring and Alerts.
