CGS Publishing Technologies International releases enhanced version of ORIS Color Tuner // Web for Canon, Epson and Roland
Monday 21. June 2010 - The latest version of the worlds most successful Web-based proofing system improves support for packaging proofing, certified spot colors, plus direct support for new Canon, Epson and Roland inkjet devices.
Digital proofing leader CGS Publishing Technologies International today announced the latest release of its world-renowned proofing system: ORIS Color Tuner // Web. The latest version adds significant new features for creating complex contract proofs in packaging environments, plus support for the new Epson Stylus Pro 7700/9700, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF63x0/iPF83x0 and the Roland VersaUV LEC-330.
The new version adds automatic spot color certification to ORIS robust proof certification workflow process. ORIS Certified Proof, installed on any computer on the network, automatically measures and reports on Delta-E variation for each proof, using spectral data measured by (among other devices) the built-in spectrophotometer of an Epson 7900 or 9900 printer. In addition to a certification label and report, the measurements themselves are also fed back into the centrally installed ORIS Color Tuner // Web. In version 1.1.1, the system automatically adds additional solid spot color patches to the “color wedge” target. The certification report then includes the average and maximum Delta-E variation of each spot color being proofed.
ORIS ScreenDot Plus option, for producing halftone proofs from PDF files, has also been improved, allowing screen angles for process and spot colors to be user selected. A significant quality improvement was also achieved with a new anti-bronzing function. Bronzing effects (a false metallic appearance in darker areas of a contract proof) have been virtually eliminated, thanks to a specifically optimized black composition.
The integrated soft proof functionality in ORIS Color Tuner // Web is also significantly enhanced. The user can now easily control settings for output resolution, image compression, validity of the monitor calibration and minimum consistence between monitor and output profile.
In addition to supporting the new Epson and the Canon printers, the latest release also includes a direct driver for the Roland VersaUV LEC-330. Using ORIS Color Tuner // Web 1.1.1 with ScreenDot or ScreenDot Plus, the Roland device can produce contract-quality halftone proofs (including white ink) on original printing substrates.
