Océ cements market-leading color position with Business Continuity transaction
Wednesday 16. June 2010 - Disaster recovery specialist invests in Océ ColorStream 10000 Flex systems to open door to new business opportunities
UK-based disaster recovery specialist Business Continuity has acquired two Océ ColorStream 10000 Flex continuous feed production systems. Not only have these investments significantly increased Business Continuitys black & white capacity, it has also opened the door to color
Océ commands 26% share in production color continuous feed
The investment in the presses, which can print black & white or color as required, also enables Océ to build on its leadership position in the production color continuous feed market. InfoTrends research confirmed in May 2010 that Océs share has risen to 26% in this segment.
Business Continuity operates in a niche market dedicated exclusively to disaster recovery for time-sensitive print and mail operations. Operating from a purpose-built, highly secure facility at Northampton in the UK, Business Continuity supplies back-up print and mailing services to clients across the complete spectrum, ranging from major high street banks, building societies and insurance companies to small commercial printers. Clients all have one thing in common: time and business critical printing work that must carry on in the event of their own system failure.
Océ currently supplies 18 cutsheet and continuous feed systems
Business Continuity, which provides the largest service of its kind in Europe, has the capability for processing in excess of six million images a day, in color and black & white, yet none of its growing number of clients takes up more than 30% of total capacity. Its latest expansion comes on the back of an installation in 2009 of an Océ VarioStream 9210, which supplies back-up print and mailing services. In all, the firm now has 18 cutsheet and continuous print production systems provided by Océ.
“Océ an excellent partner”, says Business Continuity co-founder
Operations Director Mark Allan, who founded Business Continuity with Managing Director Danny Brock more than 12 years ago, said: “These machines are an ideal way for a production facility to get into color because it is a fully configurated black & white machine anyway. They are only used when recovering from a disaster is all that matters. Océ has been an excellent partner. We receive fantastic support all the time. If we have a client who uses another manufacturers kit, it will never be a problem transferring it to an Océ system. Clients are more than happy, even when normally using another manufacturer, for their disaster recovery work to be done through Océ. The machines have never ever let us down. When we show prospective clients around, they are always pleased that its Océs kit.
“Business Continuity uses a comprehensive range of technologies and equipment, with all procedures documented to ISO 9002 standards, to provide total solutions that will ensure complete contingency for all print and mail applications. We provide total client support. Nothing is ever left to chance.”
