Telegraaf Media Groep consolidates seven titles in a CCI data center

Wednesday 02. June 2010 - By implementing a CCI data center, Telegraaf Media Groep anticipates significant cost reductions and paves the way for increased editorial collaboration.

Telegraaf Media Groep, a leading Dutch media house with a portfolio of a large number of daily newspapers, magazines, puzzle magazines, online and offline media and radio, has entered into an agreement with CCI for a 408-seat data center solution including its Telegraaf Media Nederland titles De Telegraaf, Sp!ts, Noordhollands Dagblad, Haarlems Dagblad, IJmuider Courant, Leidsch Dagblad and De Gooi-en Eemlander. The data center will be located in Amsterdam and Alkmaar with disaster recovery failover between the two sites.

“The primary driver for bringing the seven titles together in the CCI data center is cost reduction. The focus is first on the IT infrastructure, but in longer perspective the possibilities of sharing content may also be explored. And here, CCI is in a good position. The CCI development is following a path that matches what we might do in the future: having one content store for many different channels,” says Ted van Dongen, Business Information Manager at Telegraaf Media Nederland.

Another driver behind the project is a desire to establish a standardized platform to be able to respond quickly to the increased demands of the market.

“You have to standardize to be able to do something special with your products every day. And to do that, you need a very solid standardized platform so that you can deploy your technical resources to develop your business and not to focus on hardcore technology,” says Ted van Dongen.

Dan Korsgaard, CEO of CCI: “With the increasing focus on consolidation within the media houses today, we are pleased to be able to deliver a solution that enables Telegraaf Media Group to implement their decision to bring several titles together in a shared data center.”

Telegraaf Media Nederland has been a CCI customer since 1991. According to project manager, Marco Zwanenburg, Telegraaf Media Nederland staff has the know-how to carry out the bulk of the implementation work with only occasional support from CCI personnel. Setup of products and connections to external systems are well under way with roll-out planned to start mid-May and to finish by September 30.
